Hormone Imbalance

Hormones play a critical role in maintaining overall health and well-being. Imbalances can occur at any age, and can include estrogen dominance, testosterone deficiency, (in both men and women!!! We ALL need adequate Testosterone) peri-menopause, and menopause. Any of these imbalances can significantly impact one’s health. At Golden Road Medicine, we aim to understand the cause of the imbalance and address these imbalances to enhance the quality of your life. The natural state of our bodies is to be in balance!

Estrogen Dominance:

Estrogen dominance occurs when there is an excess of estrogen relative to progesterone in the body. We see this more and more in younger women, as it is caused, in part, by environmental toxins including plastic use, and other things we come in contact with daily that contain endocrine disrupting chemicals. Did you know that toxic xenogeneic estrogen can be found in hundreds of the products you are using daily?? Did you know that you can detox estrogen if you have too much, or can use natural bio identical progesterone to help restore balance between the 2 hormones? This hormonal imbalance can manifest in various ways, leading to symptoms such as mood swings, weight gain, breast tenderness, worsening PMS, and irregular, heavy or painful menstrual cycles.

Individuals may experience headaches, bloating, changes in libido, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating. Skin issues such as acne and water retention are also common. It’s crucial to address estrogen dominance as it may contribute to an increased risk of certain health issues,  including breast cancer and reproductive issues. Our holistic approach focuses on identifying the root causes of estrogen dominance, incorporating personalized nutrition plans, detoxification strategies, stress reduction techniques, and natural supplements and herbs to rebalance hormones and alleviate your symptoms.

Testosterone Deficiency:

Testosterone deficiency is not exclusive to men; women can also experience lower than-optimal levels of this crucial hormone. At Golden Road Medicine we believe in reaching and optimal levels, rather than saying you are fine in the low normal range. Low testosterone levels can result in fatigue, decreased libido, muscle loss, mood swings, hair loss, and even cognitive decline. Individuals may also experience mood changes, including irritability and depression, reduced bone density, difficulty sleeping, and brain fog. In men, low testosterone can lead to erectile dysfunction and reduced facial and body hair growth. Our holistic  interventions for testosterone deficiency involve tailored dietary changes, exercise regimens, and stress management techniques. When indicated, we prescribe bio-identical testosterone gel that does not carry the same side effects as the synthetic injections. By addressing the underlying factors contributing to testosterone imbalance, we aim to enhance muscle mass, overall well-being and optimal vitality.

Peri-Menopause:

Peri-menopause is a transitional phase before menopause, typically occurring in a woman’s late 30s or early 40s. It can last for up to 10 years before you reach menopause. During this period, hormonal fluctuations can lead to a range of symptoms, including hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, and irregular periods (longer, shorter, heavier, less frequent – everyone is different!) . Additional symptoms may include vaginal dryness, changes in sexual desire (lower libido), urinary incontinence, joint pain, and increased susceptibility to urinary tract infections. Sleep disturbances, such as insomnia, can also be prevalent. Have you started waking up at 2am, 3am ,or 4am in the morning most nights, when you used to be a good sleeper?? You might be approaching peri-menopause!

Our holistic approach to peri-menopause involves personalized strategies to monitor your hormone levels and manage these symptoms. This can include the incorporation of bio-identical hormones if indicated, herbal supplements, lifestyle adjustments, and stress reduction techniques to support women through this natural phase of hormonal change that is not discussed enough in our society. Peri-menopause can make many women feel like they are going crazy, but we can help you find balance through this transitional time!

Menopause:

Menopause marks the end of the menstrual cycle and a woman’s reproductive years. Hormonal changes during menopause can result in an extensive range symptoms, such as hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, and changes in bone density. Individuals may experience thinning hair, dry skin, changes in body composition, and an increased risk of cardiovascular issues. Cognitive changes, including difficulty concentrating and memory lapses, can also occur due to dwindling estrogen. Our holistic treatments aim to alleviate these symptoms through natural therapies including supplementation with bio-identical Estrogen, nutritional support, and lifestyle modifications. Natural Bio Identical Estradiol has been well studied and does not lead to the same side effects and risks of synthetic hormone pills of the past that were limited to 5 years of use due to the increase in female cancers. We empowering women to navigate menopause with strength and grace, addressing the unique challenges associated with this transformative stage of life. This transition can be a beautiful transformation.
